HHB welcomes Matteo Gomellini - Economist at the Bank of Italy in the Directorate of Structural Economic Analysis, Division of Economic history and historical archives - as a HHB Fellow.

He holds a PhD in Economic Sciences from the University of Rome La Sapienza. His main research interests are related to the economic history of Italy. In particular, his studies are focused on the following topics: international and internal migration, international trade, industrial location and the evolution of regional divides, the economics of Italian cities. Lately he started working on the impact of railroads on economic growth.
