The Report on the Cost of Living in Kingston, Jamaica, was issued in 1940 by the Labour Department. To the best of our knowledge this is the first household survey ever carried out in the country. The data refers to 486 households, all based in the capital city. This was the first of four surveys that were carried out over 15 years, starting from 1939.
